Event Description:
What is it? Jehovah’s Witnesses will hold their annual 3-day Regional Convention at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho. It is designed to help children in school, to improve family life, and to assist those in the workplace to work more productively. The theme of this year’s program, “Be Courageous!”, will focus on how to face present and future challenges with courage. The program will feature 54 presentations that will include talks, audio dramas, interviews, and short videos. A few highlights of the 3-day convention: Friday, 1:40 p.m.: A 6-part symposium will identify things that weaken courage versus things that strengthen courage such as: ? Despair Versus Hope ? Complaining Versus Thanksgiving ? Bad Associations Versus Good Associations Saturday, 9:40 a.m.: Attendees will learn how to be a courageous parent, mate, and youth. Sunday, 1:50 p.m.: A feature film entitled The Story of Jonah – A Lesson in Courage and Mercy will be shown. Approximately 4,500 people will attend from Idaho, Oregon and Nevada. The estimated attendance over 3 days is 15,000, which will generate approximately $1.5 million in revenue from shopping, hotel and restaurant use. On Thursday morning, the day before the event, 500 volunteers will arrive to clean the facility and set up audio and visual equipment. Prior to the event, Jehovah’s Witnesses around the world will participate in a global campaign to personally invite the general public to attend. Globally, the conventions will be held at different venues in 180 different lands. Everyone is invited. Admission is free and no collections are taken.
