Our four-season Brahms cycle continues with his second symphony, a piece with an airy, pastoral atmosphere—like the lakeside resort where it was written. Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 was a tribute to his friendship with cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, and will feature our guest soloist Julian Schwarz on cello.
