It’s the shortest day and the longest night of the year. The Winter Solstice marks the time of year when the days begin to grow longer again. For centuries, this begins a period of rest and renewal for farmers before the next round of spring planting, summer growing, and fall harvesting. In fact, many of the customs, lore, symbols, and holidays associated with the Winter Solstice were derived from a celebration of this lunar event by ancient cultures. So, we thought, why not create one more tradition on this noteworthy day?! Finish (or start) your holiday shopping at Indian Creek Plaza’s Winter Solstice Market! We’ll have dozens of the finest handmade items and crafted treats to make every person on your list say ‘WOW’ this Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule, or other holiday or special occasion. Stroll up and down the market stalls for the perfect gift. Perhaps you’ll find a one-of-a-kind piece of pottery, fused glass wall décor, or a metal sculpture that speaks to your soul or reminds you of a loved one. While you shop, send the rest of your family to skate the night away at the Indian Creek Plaza Ice Ribbon. Then, ‘wrap up’ the evening with a warm drink or dinner from one of Caldwell’s many downtown restaurants.
