The use of mobile devices to surf the web is growing at an astronomical pace. A recent study by digital marketing agency Stone Temple shows a faster than expected shift of web usage from desktop to mobile between 2016 and 2017. According to the study, mobile traffic reached 63% of all traffic in 2017. Based on results of the study, Stone Temple now predicts mobile traffic will reach a full 2/3 of all traffic by the end of 2018
Unfortunately, much of the web isn't optimized for mobile devices. In fact, according to research at Google, the average time a mobile web page takes to load on a 3G connection is 19 seconds! But 53% of users will abandon a site if it takes longer than 3 seconds to load!
''When real users have a slow experience on mobile, they're much less likely to find what they are looking for or purchase from you in the future.'' - Google
Recently, Google Search and Ads teams announced plans to prioritize and highlight pages that deliver optimized and fast user experiences.
